2008 Season Camp Staff Positions

Camp Season: The 2008 summer camp season begins June 9 with staff training. Staff training will end June 13th. Campers arrive June 15th and the last day of camp is July 26th. Summer camp requires a 24 hour a day commitment.

Salaries and Benefits: Salaries are based on experience and certification, but many great staff members have had little or no experience, we are willing to train you. Salaries range from $200 + per week depending on experience and certification. Room and board, staff shirt, and workman's compensation are provided. College credit for summer employment can be arranged. Internships are available. Staff members receive one day off per week plus every Saturday night off. Hours off daily between program responsibilities.

Program Descriptions: The following position descriptions are intended to serve only as an overview.

Staff Positions

Aquatics Director
Develop and implement an integrated program of aquatic activities in a pool and/or river environment. Support camp objectives; including swimming lessons, canoeing, recreational swimming and training. Manage pool operations and supervise waterfront staff. Provide program ideas and opportunities. Assist with all camp projects and programs. Current water safety instructor and/or life guard training, CPR and standard first aid, small craft experience a plus.

Day Camp Director
Develop and implement an integrated camping program supporting camp objectives. Work directly with campers and provide fun, high quality program opportunities. Organize scheduling, inventory equipment and supplies. Assist with all camp projects and programs. Supervise staff.

Horsemanship Director
Develop and implement an integrated western style instructional riding program in support of camp objectives. Oversee corral operations; including daily care of the horses. Provide program ideas and opportunities, supervise riding staff and coordinate program and scheduling. Certified riding instructor or equivalent training, standard first aid and CPR required. Management and supervisory experience at a riding facility.

Indian Way Director
Develop and implement an integrated program of Native American hand craft, traditions, culture, in support of the camp objectives.

Backwoods Biking Director
Develop and implement an integrated program of trail mountain biking in support of the camp objectives.

Naturalist/OutDoor Adventure
Develop and implement an integrated environmental education program supporting camp objectives. Organize scheduling, maintain inventory, equipment and supplies. Assist with all camp projects and program. Work directly with campers to provide fun, high quality program opportunities. Knowledge, education and/or experience in natural science or environmental studies preferred.

Lifeguard Staff
Lifeguard at the pool and/or river. Assist in teaching swimming and canoeing lessons, with waterfront related program and operations. Assist with all camp projects and programs. Current lifeguard training, CPR and standard first aid required.

Primitive Camp Counselor/Travel Camp Staff
Develop and implement program based on camp goals, utilizing camper partnership in planning. Work directly with campers. Tent living, outdoor cooking, and primitive camping experience desirable.

Riding Staff
Assist riding directly with the development and implementation of an integrated western horseback riding program in support of camp objectives. Establish safety standards. Assist with all camp projects and programs. Work directly with campers. Riding and teaching experience required.

Support Staff

Cook
Prepare meals for approximately 150 campers and staff daily. Assist with supervision of kitchen assistant. Experience in quantity cooking and baking required.

Kitchen Assistant
Assist with routine kitchen operations and meal preparation including dish washing, pack out, salad preparation and dining room setup. Previous food service experience/training preferred.

Maintenance Assistant
Assist with grounds, building maintenance, prepare building for check in/check out, and assist with luggage.

Counselor-In-Training Director
Assist with design and implementation of counselor-in-training programs (CIT 1 & CIT 2), with resources provided, based on Camp Tuckabatchee standards and guidelines, camp goals. Previous camp, program and leadership experience required. Must be available for training prior to June 4th.

Cabin Counselor
Develop and implement cabin program based on camp goals, utilizing camper partnership in planning. Work directly with campers to provide fun, high quality program opportunities. Camping and leadership experience desirable.

Junior Counselor
Salary range $100 - $110 per week. Completion of counselor-in-training program or equivalent leadership program training required. Work directly with campers implementing camping program.
